The Hillside Elementary school circular library is a welcoming nest in the middle of a large open plaza. Cedar wood wraps and shades the building in a basket like weave. This formerly lonely space is enlivened with planting, benches and whimsical words stenciled on the asphalt site.

Located across the courtyard,the three classroom building utilizes a large, cedar overhang and inverted bay windows to create moments of intimacy, scale, light and shadow overlooking the playground expanse.
