We are a full service, POC/women owned architecture and design practice located in Oakland, California.A week long particpatory workshop in Bangalore India to design draw, make, document and build with high school students at the Parikrma Learning Center in Bangalore India. The workshop utilized recyclables that the students collected over an 8 month period, and repurposed them into a ceiling canopy. The youth at the Learning center came from marginalized families and many had minimal exposure to architecture and design. The workshop aimed to give young people a new way to look at the world around them and to introduce basic design tools. The hope was that students could realize that even a small architectural intervention like a canopy could enable them to make a change in their community and become advocates through changing and designing the spaces they occupy.
